Living In Layers - The OFFICIAL Layers Magazine Blog
A Fireworks Wednesday
Happy Wednesday everyone! I am really excited to have, on my desk, the newest edition of Layers Magazine – now out at your favorite book retailer. For this issue, I got the opportunity to work with the new version of Fireworks CS4 out on Beta at the Adobe Labs site, and I spent some time chatting with Alan Musselman – Adobe Applications Architect, about the new features. After kicking the tires on it for a bit, I’m excited to say that this is a welcome update indeed. (many thanks, Alan!)
When I wrote the article, I didn’t want to go through a whole step-by-step process on paper. Instead, I wanted to take you through some of the features in print, and show you some applications for those features on the web. I broke it down into 10 videos so that you can digest all of it – 5 of those videos are online right now! Between the videos and the article in the magazine, you should get a good taste of what’s to come in this new version of Adobe’s prototyping software. If you are looking to design a web interface or a RIA, Fireworks definitely merits a look.

If you want to take a look at some additional videos on Fireworks CS4 – go ahead and take a look at the Adobe TV Page for Fireworks.
CDW and Kelby Training Offer a Special
Right now if you upgrade to CS3.3 you get Fireworks and Acrobat 9. However, if you buy the upgrade at CDW you will also get a free month of Kelby Training (through July 30).
Now’s a great time to think about that upgrade!
• Call CDW at 888-491-4239 to place your order, or visit www.cdw.com/adobe
• Email a copy of your CDW invoice to cdwoffer@kelbymediagroup.com
• Once your CDW invoice is received, Kelby Training™ will email you a unique code—giving you unlimited access to its library of online classes for one full month.
I’m going to leave you guys now to go check out those videos. I think you’ll be surprised by how much you can quickly figure out in Fireworks if you use Photoshop and Illustrator. Make sure you go ahead and give them a look over. Let me know what you think. We’ll chat tomorrow!
