About Changes | In Case You Missed It | Contest Time

Never being the person who likes to stay idle, I started thinking about the Layers Magazine Blog and how we could fit more stuff into one day. This got me looking back at my ranting, and thinking about how we could make the experience better. Then all of a sudden, it came to me: “Read More”.
Each day, I am going to keep posting about all things creative. The change here will be in the addition to the “Read More” link. This helps us out in two big ways: 1. It lets me share more entries with you on one page (rather than reading my wordy ranting in one fell swoop), and 2. It lets you automatically get to a contact section where you can post comments, AND see what others have written. I’ve always thought that the comments were a little hidden from the readers and when you want to leave feedback or participate in a contest (which we are going to be running a BUNCH of soon), it gets lost in the posting. Still all the same goodness, with more on one page. It’s a win/win I think. Matter of fact, let’s start with one contest right off the bat. Click on the Read More link to check out the new “In Case You Missed It” tutorials and some other cool stuff.
Another addition to the blog - the “In Case You Missed It” tutorials. Over the next few weeks I am going to take some of the cool highlights and tips from the Layers TV podcast, and some other cool shows, and just bring you a cool tutorial from them. This week we have the legendary Scott Kelby sharing some cool Indesign tips with us.
You can get to that featurette by clicking on this link here.
Finally.. another contest. This is how it’s going to work. Send me a comment telling me what application you wind up using the most in your day to day activities. Our producers will select an entry from the comments at random, and the winner will receive a copy of Scott Kelby’s new Digital Photography Book Volume 2 . Deadline for the entries is Friday at 9am. A winner will then be chosen and posted on the blog here.
Good luck to everyone involved and have a great Wednesday!

i would have to say i use photoshop the most because no matter what I’m doing I use it.

Much like Wanda, it’s a close race between Photoshop & InDesign. Kinda like the Super Tuesday primary results.

For me, InDesign is the most used app on a daily basis. Photoshop and Illustrator are also used a lot, but I use InDesign more.

It’s close between InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. I would have to choose Illustrator as the winner though. No matter what product I finish working in, most of what I do either begins in Illustrator as a rough sketch or contains some kind of vector design element.

I tend to use dreamweaver, photoshop and lightroom. photoshop is the one application that is used across the board when doing web design etc.
Comment by Buddy Eades | February 6, 2008 @ 11:41 am
InDesign, because that is what I use every day at work. But mostly Photoshop at home.
Comment by Chad | February 6, 2008 @ 11:49 am
I am in Dreamweaver 8 all day and also Acrobat 7 too. I get into Flash and Photoshop occasionally, but not as frequently as the other 2. I know they are not CS3, but our shop upgrades every other product cycle as it’s part of a government contract.

Not a day goes by where I don’t open Photoshop. I work on a variety of projects for many media types and they all are touched in some way by PS.

I use Photoshop most often.

I spend the most time in Lightroom. It is the BEST for photography! I’m definitely in Photoshop a ton too.

Photoshop is my main program both at work and at home (PS CS3 Extended), but I also use InDesign almost everyday - also Acrobat Pro and at least once a week I’m using Illustrator.

I use Photoshop 8 hours a day at work, then go home and work on freelance using none other than….. Photoshop! Although Illustrator is a close integration to my work. And of course there’s Dreamweaver, Flash and on occasion InDesign.

I would love to say Photoshop, but at this stage of my life, I’m not in a paying creative job! Whilst at home, I’m into Photoshop and Flash.

I use Photoshop (I’m in architecture), but I’m starting to explore both InDesign and Illustrator.

I use the entire CS3 Design Standard suite plus Adobe Dreamweaver to take care of all things print and web related. This includes the school website, HTML-based parent newsletter via email, brochures, posters, online photo gallery (coming soon), bulletins, programs, and anything else I’m asked to come up with. Now if I could only do this 8 hours a day, instead of fitting it in between being network administrator for the school!

MS Paint for sure.

Lately I have been using Ligtroom the most. With photoshop coming in a close second.

PS CS3 Extended, Dreamweaver CS3 and then Illustrator CS3…

Photoshop the most then Indesign then Illustrator

I use Photoshop the most but I am working to learn Flash. Flash is where I am the weakest and spend the most learning time.
Comment by Paul R. | February 6, 2008 @ 10:34 pm
I try to stay true to my original capture in-camera but tweaking my imagery using the various tools and techniques that PS CS3 has to offer just enhances my image and rounds out my vision I’m trying to project.

Can there be a 3 way tie? Probably Illustrator the most…

Photoshop the most then Indesign

I used and was addicted to Photoshop 100% until I took a couple of Illustrator classes. Now that I’ve mastered the pen tool I’ve switched and I am addicted to Illustrator!! It is the software that clicks with the type of image I love to do….more graphic…clean and simple. I use all the other Adobe programs, but mostly in support of Illustrator and Photoshop. I am glad I haven’t developed an addiction to the others….I wouldn’t have enough time to eat or sleep.
Comment by D Klecan | February 7, 2008 @ 10:52 pm
Illustrator all the way. I’d rather do almost anything in it than any other app!
Comment by Joseph Cotten | February 7, 2008 @ 11:25 pm
I use photoshop CS3 the most for just about every project i do. I also use illustrator CS3, dreamweaver CS3 and fireworks CS3 regularly as well.
Comment by Andrew Smith | February 8, 2008 @ 8:50 pm
I use photoshop cs3 the most but I am starting to learn lightroom so soon it may be used more than photoshop.
Comment by Nancy Swafford | February 10, 2008 @ 6:18 pm
Without a doubt, Photoshop. It doesn’t seem to matter what I need to do, I will spend some time in PS. Sometimes I just open it and start to play with any image to start the creative process.

Maybe I am not paying enough attention but I have yet to see a demo about working in a natural medium such as oil paint, watercolour or pastels and then enhancing it in Photoshop. I have done so once or twice a long time ago but would like to learn some new tips & tricks.
Comment by Anthony Liliefeldt | February 12, 2008 @ 8:39 pm
I am in Dreamweaver CS3 everyday. I also find myself in Lightroom everyday and from there Photoshop CS3.
Comment by Paul F | February 13, 2008 @ 9:00 am
Your show is very helpful and enjoyable. Using all of the various programs together is great!
Carry on. The style of teaching is pleasant.
