Blending Gradients in Illustrator

How do you make a gradient bend to the shape you are creating? The answer is in Illustrator’s under-used Blend tool.

Very cool way to manipulate radial gradients just uncovered this week and dealt with on the Layers Forum. No one seems to have known of it before. Check it out.

That’s what we need! Creative exploration! Thanks so much for all the starting points you and Dave Cross offer. It’s nice to be able to do the production aspects that the others demonstrate, but it’s the creativity explorations that got most of us into this business and open the spigot to our creative juices. You and Dave allow it to explode out of the pipeline. My mind is already going in 2 or 3 directions in thinking of ways to apply what I just saw to one of my projects.

This was great! I am just getting familiar with Illustrator and had no idea what the “warp” tool did. Loved it!

This is cool effect though, “blend” gradient has slower redraw.

Hey there,

Very nice one with the blend tool. But how do you apply this to lets say a round object? Pretty much work to get a rircle with the pen tool.

Greetings,
