Blog Contest Winner | Channels Explained | Love @ Smashing Magazine
Living In Layers | By RC | May 15, 2008 | 1 Comments

Happy Friday everyone. So I'm fresh back from checking out the new Iron Man movie, and I have to say.. THAT was AWESOME. The technical wizardry, the flying, the not-so-squeaky clean superhero. Very, very neat. I don't like going to the movies much at all.. but this one was definitely worth it.
So this is cool - as I got into the office after watching the movie, I found that the CG Society has a cool article about the 3D that was used in Iron Man. Excellent shots, and a great way to see into the background of how this movie was made. Check out their link right here.
Smashing Magazine Props
I want to send out a big thank you to the folks over at Smashing Magazine. In a recent blog post called "Useful Podcasts for Designers and Developers" Layers TV, Photoshop User TV, Pixel Perfect, AND Photoshop Killer Tips were listed as podcasts you should check out. We really appreciate the support!
A Few Minutes at Photoshop World

See: If you go to the Photoshop World website, there is a video that takes you through some of the stuff that we do at the conference. You get shots of the vendors, the teachers, and your's truly out on the conference floor, making special moments with all of our fans. Make sure you go to the link.

Layers TV Episode 35 Contest Winner
First and Foremost, I want to congratulate Tom Corcoran for being the winner of the Layers TV episode 35 contest. My apologies for getting this out to you guys today, but the video did not drop until later on Wednesday. Make sure that you click the player over there on the right to watch. If you like us that much, make sure that you subscribe to us on iTunes as well.
The correct answer for the contest was to hit the Command [PC: Control] Enter (or Return) to test a movie. Good on you guys for getting that. (and if you're smart and checked this site in the AM, you know I gave you guys the answer for tomorrows blog contest - my producer just told me of that this AM. Sorry about that)
I got an email a while ago from someone called Frustrated Jack about the fact that we don't announce the winner on the show anymore. He stated that he'd "Kill to have that back". Now I really, really hope he was kidding about that part - but it did make me conscious of the fact that we really should mention it in the episode the contest is on. So.. Tom - you're our first on the new policy. Give much props to Frustrated Jack for changing the rules here. We really do appreciate it.
Eddie Tapp is a Special Guest
This week's episode of Layers TV has Eddie Tapp as a special guest, and I can't tell you how much of a pleasure it was to interview him. If you want to catch more of Eddie, be sure to visit his website or check his courses out on the Kelby Training website.
1TB on a Macbook Pro? A Cool Art of Type Tutorial? They both await you after the jump.
The Wednesday Morning Post.

That title just makes me feel very newspaper-y. Sorry about that. :)
This morning, I checked out one of David duChemin's recent posts at Pixelated Image, and it really resounded with something I have been thinking about as of late. I don't know why, but not too long ago I was surrounded by a lot of that same "give me the recipe to your photo shooting in a cookbook fashion". Normally that's fine, and I think most anyone is really up for sharing. I just sometimes feel that it takes a lot out of the enjoyment that one can get from learning the process.
Make sure you check out David's "Addicted to How" article at the following link. Thanks so much for saying something that needed to be said (and... I love his site anyway). Oh, and how cool is this? He's actually on PhotoshopUser TV this week. Make sure you see him there as well!.
I Made Joe's Blog
This for me was a really cool personal moment, and one that I was very happy to share in. I don't want to go into too much detail because Joe McNally really does a great job at telling the story. However, I would go over to Joe's Blog and read about his first day back from a 2 week trip around the world - with your's truly being there to catch it when it happened. It took everything in my power not to yell "Britney, Britney!!" when he came in and I was shooting him.
I'm also covered in Mace according to Scott's blog. I'll leave it there, but that was kinda cool.. A nice read as well! Check it out here!. Ahhh, Julia..
Want to see a great tutorial on Illustrator and Flash. Make sure you check out the jump!
Lou Reed, Sean Duggan, and a Canon HV30

At work this morning, my buddy Dave Korman told me to check out a neat Flash site, that of Musician Lou Reed. I thought it was a really interesting way to start off our Tuesday - a little Flash inspiration of sorts. Make sure you check out the site by clicking on this link. Thanks Dave, and congratulations on your Creative Loafing review of your new CD!
CDW, Adobe, & Matt Kloskowski
On June 3, 2008 at the good ol' Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, Matt Kloskowski will be speaking at a Creative Suite 3 Symposium, which will run from 8:00am to 4:30pm. This symposium is a great place for you go and expand your knowledge of the Creative Suite. Maybe I'll find my way up there (or give Matt the HV30) and bring you guys back a video entry. Registration is sure to sell out quickly. Oh wait.. that's right.. it's FREE!

Living In Layers | By RC | May 12, 2008 | 0 Comments
Happy Monday everyone! Let's get to it.
I'm heading back into the Tampa area, back from a week of hanging in NYC. I have to tell you, it was a blast! It was really good to meet up with everyone at B&H, and I can't wait to be able to do that again.
Our time at B&H is over with, but if you want to check out another one-day training seminar, look no further. Scott Kelby will be taking his brand of Photoshop magic to Hartford, CT this Tuesday, May 13. If you are in the area, it's definitely something to check out.
For more information, be sure to click on this link for details.
Photoshop Express does Flickr
Pretty cool stuff here. It looks like Photoshop Express has now been modded to be able to work with Flickr. You are now able to browse and edit your Flickr-based collections with Photoshop Express.. a great way to leverage two technologies under one roof.
For more information on this, go to the Photoshop Express website.
