Early Bird at Photoshop World | New Tutorial | Presentation Software | Book Recommendations

Hey everyone. Just a quick update: In 2 days, early bird registration will be over for Photoshop World – the largest, most amazing Photoshop conference in the world. Registering before February 29th will lock in a deal at 100 dollars less than what the normal ticket would cost. If you are thinking about heading out to Orlando this April 2-4, make sure you register now. I’ll be teaching 2 classes on how to maximize your use of Photoshop, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver. Be sure to say Hi if you come!
My buddy Carl turned me on to this website that has software for previewing images on your computer. It looks pretty cool, so go check them out.

We have some book recommendations, as well as a new tutorial, so check us out after the jump.
Tutorial Alert
This just in. Terry White has got a cool tutorial on transparency tricks in Indesign CS3. It seems like I can never get enough of cool stuff to do in InDesign, so this is a good read.
Check out the tutorial by clicking on this link.
A Few Book Recommendations
Katrin Eismann and Sean Duggan have got a really cool book out there called The Creative Digital Darkroom. In short, it teaches you how to take skills that you would have from Darkroom use and apply them to the digital world. I have always been a fan of Katrin’s work, loudly advocating her Adobe Photoshop Restoration and Retouching as well as her Photoshop Masking and Compositing text. This one seems to be another one of those books that should go on your shortlist.
I’ve also been sitting around reading Michael Freeman’s The Photographer’s Eye – Composition and Design for Better Digital Photos. It’s got a lot of really good techniques and explanations, and it is a must-have for someone wanting to get their inner photographic eye developed.
Michael Grecco’s Lighting and the Dramatic Portrait is another book that I am enjoying as of late. It’s got tons of great tips, stories, and insights on how to get that picture you always wanted. Be sure to check it out.
That’s it for me for today. Make sure you check back tomorrow, when we will have details on our extended weekend contest!
