I believe DWT stands for “Dreamweaver Web Template,” not “Dynamic Web Template.” This lead me to be confused about the content of this tutorial since “dynamic” is typically associated with server-side processing (e.g., PHP).

Sorry for the confusion about templates. You’re right that ‘dynamic’ when used with Web sites generally means sites created with PHP or similar technologies, and that’s not what this tutorial is about.

The .dwt format is used in multiple programs (Dreamweaver, FrontPage, and Expression Web). Microsoft clearly defines DWT as Dynamic Web Template, but I believe you’re correct that in most Dreamweaver help files these are simply referred to as HTML templates or Dreamweaver Templates.

What’s even more confusing is that there are many different kinds of Dreamweaver templates, including templates in PHP and JSP so you can have a Dreamweaver Template that is a .dwt file or a .php file and they’re both technically Dreamweaver templates.

In this tutorial, I’m definitely working with Dreamweaver’s HTML Template features and specifically exploring how you can use image attributes in .dwt files.

Hope that helps clear up any confusion.
