Font Identification Stuff
I’ve been thinking about all things font recently. I’m sure you have too. Sometimes, when you’re walking around, you just need to be able to find out what font the latest movie/ad was using. When this happens, I usually go to one of two places:
1. Whatthefont? – This website is really cool because they have a font detection program running on it! If you submit a picture of your font, the software does its best job of deciphering the individual letters (it asks you for input every now and again), and then finally gives you a listing of possible solutions. Check them out: http://www.whatthefont.com
2. Typophile: This website is just awesome. The people that are on these forums are just font geniuses. Submit a picture on a post, and within a few minutes, you will have a bunch of people arguing the Xheight of the font and why it is this one versus another one. And they are usually spot on. I don’t know how they do it. Here’s a link to the site.

Fonts have such an important role in design – being able to name them, use them, and broaden your experience with them definitely helps. These two places are invaluable for that.
Happy Wednesday everyone.
