View Full Version : Disappearing fonts in InDesign

I am using CS2 and FontAgent Pro 3.02 on a mac running Tiger. Sometimes the fonts I am using in InDesign just disappear from the font menu, and the type gets the pink box around it as though the font doesn't exist. For example, I have some text that is set in Baskerville (postscript font).

Then I open another file, which does not use Baskerville.

When I go back to my first file, suddenly the type is in Arial or something, with a pink box around it, and the typeface Baskerville is no longer in my font list, even though FAP says it is open.

This happens quite often. The only workaround I have found is to quit InDesign and then open it again, which is tedious.

Thanks. H.

Have you checked the font to make sure its not broken? I get the same thing from time to time but with crazier fonts that i pull of the web. Its always been a bad font. good luck.

I had the same problem with IN2 and FAP. I asked both companies about possible conflicts and both said they did not know of any issues. I have since switched to Linotype FontExplorer and have not had any issues so far.

You should check out Linotypes software - it has been working great for me, and its free!
