Hi all,
I wanted to start discussions about creating accessible PDFs. Does anyone here do this kind of work? I want to make some changes to our workflow that will allow us to easily create accessible PDFs out of InDesign with a minimum of manual labor in Acrobat-- that's what computers are for, after all.
I have gotten as far as downloading a DTD from an accessibility organization such as DAISY (http://www.daisy.org) and using the tags palette in InDesign to tag various elements on each page.
Acrobat can sort of understand these tags, but I guess I'm just after trading some tips for creating PDFs that have correct reading order and don't read out headers and footers. For instance, whats the difference between "background" tags and "artifact" tags?
