Took the dive.
Received 2 2.66 DuoCore Mac Pros last Friday. 5 gigs of RAM and 3 500 Gig hard drives.
So far?
Working on a 1.8 Gig file in PS felt like workng on about a 200 Meg file on my MDD Dual Gig G4. And way quieter (thank you very much)…
No major hiccups so far - pretty smooth transition to production - smoother than most…

Hi Paul,
Best of luck with your new Macs. Can't wait to get mine. But I've been waiting for CS3 to come out.
Have you had a chance to play with IDCS2 yet? I've heard about some really odd behavior on the Intel processors.
Hope all is well!
Ace
:D
As far as I know, Photoshop runs on Rosetta does'nt it ? So what will it be when it will be adapted for Intel !
I guess that the 5 gigs of RAM must make a big difference here.

Hi Adobe Ace - Always nice to talk to you.
So far no major hiccups in IDCS2.
The main thing I have encountered across the board is minor font issues - having to update fonts when the file is opened - a couple of times having to reset the font even when the font was active - stuff like that.
Nothing that seems out of the ordinary for a complete system transition.
I would say so far this is smoother than when I went to the G4 (knock on wood).

Let me know when you fill it's RAM to capacity;) What can they hold now, 20 gigs?

Only 16 Gigs Repro - I was really bummed about that…:D
That would turn this into a $9000 computer or so.
