Hi,
I just upgraded to CS2 from Pagemaker and am having problems printing. If any part of an image placed in InDesign document is larger then the document size it doesn't print. It seems like I should be able to print all of the image (I could in PageMaker). For instance if my document size is 5"x6" and the image placed is 5.125"x6" and I print onto an 8.5"x11" document the image will be cut off.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Ok if I understand this right you have your pic in a pic box right? Did you make the pic box first or did you place the photo directly into the doc?

Here's what I would do... I also hit apple D (control D for PC) to place the image and then change it as needed. By just placing the image VS making a pic box first you get the whole photo.

If you make a pic box first at 5 x 6 then you will need to move the side frames over another .125. hope this helps

I think you are just not printing the bleeds. In the Print Dialog, go to the Marks and Bleeds window and make sure that under Bleed & Slug the numbers for Top, Bottom, Left and Right are not set to zero. Set them to however much bleed you want to print.

InDesign is designed with the print industry in mind, whereas Pagemaker (bless it's little heart!) was more for internal corporate publications where the laser printer sees to the image cropping. In the print world we do not want any more image than we are going to print ie. the cropped page plus bleed for the trimmer (guillotine) to neaten the edge.
Does that make sense?
