Is it just me?
I imagine that, like me, most people allow their CS 2 icons to permanently reside in the dock. With earlier versions of adobe programs there was no mistaking the very distinct look of botecceli's venus or photshop's camera iris and the later eyeball.
But with CS 2's icons all loaded in place in my dock, I have a heck of a time remembering if Illustrator is the feather, the flower or the butterfly.
I have to run my mouse over the icons and actually read the name because the icons are hardly individually distinct and offer no suggestion as to what the program is.
Is it just me or does this bother and/or waste other people's time as well?

It bothered me for a while until I got used to it. I do miss the eyeball for Photoshop and Venus (is that who it is?) for Illy.
I under stand what you are saying about getting used to the new Icons. I tell you what I did that saves me a lot of time and I am totally addicted to is a keyboard launcher for your system. On the Mac I use one called F10 launcher. It indexes your hard drive for all your applications. When I need to launch a program you simply hit F10 and then start typing the name of the application you are looking for. I shows you the Icon and name of the programs that start with the letters that you ar typing. When it shows the one you are looking for you hit enter and it launches the program.
It sound like it would take longer than just cliking on an Icon, but it is really quick. They have a trial version. You should google F10 launcher and give it a try.

I prefer typing to mousing and clicking so I might give it a try. The problem is further exasperated by the fact that at work we use mainly Illus10 and sometimes IllusCS, but at home I use Illus CS2. all this adds up to one big Icon headache for me. Plus I'm getting older and my brain seems to shutting down.
And yes DCurry, that is Botteccelli's Birth of Venus. The one where she is standing in a seashell.

Hi Repro,
I might have a solution for you so as not to confuse your icons. We are going to switch them.
1. Remove the icons from the dock by pulling them out.
2. Make aliases of Illustrator CS2 and PhotoshopCS2.
3. Locate Illustrator 10 and Photoshop 7 (the last versions with the distinct icons.
4. Select the old applications and do GET INFO (apple+I).
5. Select new application aliases and do GET INFO (apple+I).
You should have 4 information windows open at this time.
6. Select the icon of Illustrator 10 that is within the info window. You will know you did this correct because there will be a faint glow of blue around the icon.
7. Copy (apple+C)
8. Select the icon of the alias of illustrator CS2 from the info window. You will know you did this correct because there will be a faint glow of blue around the icon.
9. Paste (apple+V)
10. Drag the alias of Illustrator CS2 (now with the Botteccelli icon) on to the dock.
11. Repeat steps 6 - 10 for the Photoshop icon switch.
I know it seems like alot but its really only two minutes of work for the convenience of your old icons.
Hope this works for you!

Reminds me of my old ResEdidt Days. And gives me some good ideas.
Thanks for brain-jolt! Maybe I'll just have to customize some Icons.

I always look for, or make, replacement icons anyway. I haven't done that for CS2 yet tho.
I can see the confusion too. I can see a slightly different icon, or slightly different color...but both?

I just placed mine in the same place and order as the previous version so I know where they are without really looking at the icons.
I agree with the post above, just create alias's and change the icons to CS1 style.

I'm envisioning a vintage photoshop 2.5 camera iris...
And maybe a retro 3.0 Illustrator "A", not sure yet about ai, but it's going to be a camera iris for sure for ps.
