Hi,

I'm trying to create an offline brand for a client and Illustrator is not my usual tool. Anyway, I have created the logo, and added a gaussian blur. I am using CMYK by the way.

Now if I want to save it off as a pdf it saves it as 72dpi. But if I want it to be 300dpi I have to rasterise, when I do this it gets rid of the gaussian blur.

Any advice?

Change your Raster Effects Settings in the Effects menu to 300 dpi before you apply the blur, then when you rasterize, there will be no change. The default settings are 72 dpi.

You should also be able to adjust your PDF settings to create a 300 dpi PDF, either way, your Rester Effects Settings should match your target dpi.

Thanks for the tip.

Do you recommend saving off the finished product as pdf? Or Jpeg?

Maybe, you could save the file as a png.

Both JPG and PNG are World Wide Web formats, not printing formats. Some common printing formats are EPS, TIFF, PSD, PDF, AI.

My printer will accep t any of the above files, but i consistently send pdf, occasionally or an eps,

I think pdf will do the job for you.
