layer window lost

i am running AI 10 and lost my layers window. doesn't show up when i hit F7 or click on it in the pull down. all the other windows open. it's not glued to another window. symbol won't open either. where did they go?

additional searches found the solution. seem to recall this from school a couple of years ago. but i found this forum so it worked out well


remove the AIPREFS file (it can be a hidden file) with Illustrator closed. Doing a search for it finds it in the "Documents and Settings" path to the "Adobe Illustrator 10" file folder

Or hold Command-Option-Control-Shift while opening Illlustrator. You'll be asked to trash the prefs.
