Our art department has just upgraded from a Mac OS9 platform using PS7, to an OSX platform using PSCS2. We are also now using an Apple Xsan as storage. In CS2 we are experiencing several issues that our IT department (all PC folks) are having problems working out. The first is creating a Targa with transparency as the alpha. In PS7 we could just save the targa as 32 bit and be done, no need to actually create the alpha. In CS2 we have to build the alpha and save against a black background. Is there a preference I am missing to save the transparency as an alpha.

Nest is the issue with the Xsan. Photoshop gets way slow when reading from it. For instance, opening the effects pallet can take up to 60 seconds. When trying to save directly to the Xsan we get the SBBOD and have to quit PS2. Has any one else had issues with PS2 & Xsan?

Thanks for any help that you all can give,

Rob...
