I'm still using InDesign2.02. I've stuck with it because I've got such a huge archive of pages I have to get into repeatedly, and I remember when I updated from Pagemaker to ID I just went nuts with everything having to convert to use or look at it. I've had the impression that if I upgrade from my current version, I'll be back in a conversion environment. True?

I guess I'm wondering if the newer versions are worth the effort. Are the newer versions greatly different from the 2.02 version I'm used to?

Yes, you'll still be in a "conversion environment", but not nearly as bad as going from PM to ID. You'll just be going from an old version to a new version of the same application. IDCS2 will open the ID2 files pretty smoothly. Actually, since new versions of apps come out every 18 months or so, you'll always be converting something to a newer version unless you stop upgrading.

CS2 is way better than version 2. CS introduced some great features over 2, and CS2 just built on it a little bit. I can't remember all the things that are new and different, but I remember being very pleased when CS was released.
