That's a very cool way to show your photos Repro - love it.

Looks a little over compressed on my screen though.

But I'm showing the settings, and it's all Auto. Betchya my screen settings and color profiling are different than yours. I use a color separation set-up appropriate to 175LPI high quality Litho — you may be used to something more Newspaper appropriate?

I don't mean the photo - I meant the screen grab - there's a lot of artifacts.

The photo looks fantastic without the artifacts. Very nice shot.

If you use Cocktail you can change the default screen grab that OSX does to different formats:

BMP
GIF
JPEG
JPEG-2000
PDF
PHOTOSHOP
PICT
PNG
SGI
TGA
TIFF

It is a very large shot and so I created a very low compression for posting. Hmmm Maybe I post the image. Nah! Too big! See The Lounge for my posting of the uncropped photo — again, compressed.

Okay, now I get it. Here a small piece of the uncompressed shot. This was taken with the Optical Zoom zoomed all the way in. Remember, this cactus bloom is about 30' tall — I've been trying to get a shot of these guys for while, but bloom is so dam# tall.http://mendozaproductions.com/misc/MockingUNCMPRSD.jpg

Birds are tough - I recently went to Yucatan and went bird watching a couple of times - fantastic stuff but getting a shot is very difficult. And I had a 300mm - probably have to get a 1000mm to get serious about it.

A movie of these guys would be nice. they sing back at you. I'm sure you've heard them. They get boisterous in the spring, this morning was regular concert. I had to try to get a shot. they have the most incredible colorization when on the wing. they look like an iron cross.

Mockingbirds are my favorite birds - they know up to 400 songs when the males are mature. The more songs they know - the more they get laid. Pretty simple stuff.

I think I'll go practice my guitar a little bit…

Hey, this is so cool. I've had Mocking birds follow me home for miles, when I was tipsy and walking home, whistling all the while. I wake up and there they are, whistling what I was, the night before, when they followed me home. The ones that rule my yard right now, I think may have followed me home a couple of years ago.

Thanks Phenn, those guys are very active and jumpy. they are hard to spot but can be heard singing for blocks. In the winter time they sing when its sunny in the day. but in the summer time they sing all night, when it's warm and calm.
