hi again, i'm taking the liberty to start a LR discussion thread since there isn't anything here. (any plans of making a new section, anyone know?)
just recently started playing with version 1.0 and have to say it has improved A LOT since beta. i use the Develop module almost exclusively, so my comments will reflect my views on this module almost entirely.
very nice keywording, grouping, selecting options. choose what images you want to import/backup. the interface speeds up quite a bit once everything has been imported and thumbnailed. ability to view different libraries as well.
which brings me to an inquiry for any LR users. i (finally) found where LR puts the thumbnail database, (Pictures->Lightroom - wtf?) along with a bunch of other .lrdata files. i noticed in the Preferences dialog of the app that i can choose which library to view. this makes me think that i can move libraries from computer to computer. anyone try this? success? i plan on trying it soon, but we only have one copy of LR right now. i will post my results when we are running on multiple copies.
the company i am working for is looking to use LR as a substitute for Portfolio, which has its share of advantages/disadvantages for database searching. (there is a discussion about this on these boards somewhere) we opted for LR.
