facicon creation issue

Hello,

I'm a new user of Golive Cs2 and having an issue with the favicon creation feature.
I create a 16x16 .psd file go to the heading section and drag the favicon icon onto the doc. Then command drag a line to the .psd file and nothing happens. It does update the file name associated to the .psd file but it doesn't launch the conversion dialog that I've seen on the movie screen shot of this feature on Lynda.com. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I'm not sure what went wrong for you. Until I saw your post, I'd never used CS2 to make favicons. I tried it and it did work using the favicon smart object. My work flow was like this;
1. Made and saved a psd that was 32x32 px
2. Opened the "index.html" page on a newly created site.
3. Drug a "favicon smart object" onto the head section of the opened "index.html" page.
4. In the Inspector pallet, where it has "source" I clicked on the folder icon, and found the 32x32 px psd file that I created.
5. GoLive then asked where I wanted to save the "smart object", and I made a folder - then saved it there.
6. Then I got a screen that showed the options for creating/saving the resulting favicon.
7. GoLive then wrote the code into the head section of the "index.html" page.
