Printer opinion!

I have a simple or not so simple question. I'm looking to replace my Canon i950. I'm a graphic designer and do light photography. It would be used for light proofing to present to my clients and occassionally to print out photo's ranging from 4x6 to 8x10. I would like to get the best printer for under $1000. Does anybody have any recommendations? Thank you in advance.

HI you might want to look at the post in this section about "help with printing" by Mops. There is some discussion about desktop and laser printers in there if you haven't already seen it. And do a search here, there have been a couple other discussions.

I'm an Epson man, have been for years, but I have heard good things about the new Canon Inkjets. From what I've read those are the only two brands I'd look at.

If you have $1000 to play with, I'd look at that Epson that PaulC has for his home setup. I think runs just under $500. It's a beauty. I'm going to have to buy one myself now that I've discovered that neither Leopard nor Epson will be supporting my Photo 875DC. I loaded up the software drivers yesterday and it was Death Screen City! *sigh*
