Hi
In InDesign CS3 (does anybody buy these apps as stand alone?) you now have panels that you can dock – a great feature, I love it! I work from home on a 17" powerBook with an extra monitor to give me sufficient real estate, In CS2 i could dock my panels (not as compact as CS3's) on my second monitor Left or right hand side and they would open on that monitor, but not CS3. Has any one figured a way of doing this so I can clear my no 1 monitor and view spreads without my panels opening over them

Sorry I don't know. I just wanted to boast that I have a 24" monitor and it's fine for CS3. I don't know the answer to your question though, except pulling the panels off the dock, by click and drag. I have to say though, working off two monitors seems a bit messy. You can buy larger monitors now for relatively very little.

when a selection tool is active, actually any tool except text you can use tab to hide all palettes, sry panels
shift-tab leaves the basic tool box visible and is so useful. And saving workspaces is a good idea…that would be interesting to know if you can save panels on secondary monitor with workspaces…could you test it to still my curiosity :)
