Adobe Acrobat 3D Version 8: retaining separate layers in Photoshop Elements

I am running Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0, Photoshop 7.0, and Adobe Acrobat 3D Version 8. I have a PDF with several layers, and I want to keep these layers while working in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. When I open the PDF in Photoshop all of the data are all on one layer. How can I change this?

On a separate note, can Acrobat do photomerging like Adobe Elements?
