Im new to InDesign (Photoshop Veteran) I put text on top of a blue back ground. When I applied a drop shadow to the text, it turns my background purple. What am I doing wrong. My blue background was place in from Photoshop.
Thanks,
TIM

Try using "color" instead of "darkness" and use black for the color.

Having a transparent object infront of an image forces InDesign to colourmanage it as the shadow is rasterised with the background. My guess is that you either have different coloursettings in InDesign and photoshop…or more probably are refering to an out of gamaut blue, which is rendered using relative mode in InDesign.
Open the photoshop file (what RGB space ??) and proof colours…if it turns the same purple (note some people have images in perceptual and graphics in relative…this is allways a high risk as colourshift may occur…more control to use relative rendering and adjust out of gamaut colours so that YOU KNOW how they are adjusted to fit in the printing Gamaut). This most definately will give you the control you seek!

Good Luck! Colourmanagement is great if you take the time to fully understand it's magic ;-)
