Question on layers hanging over document box?

when in Illustrator and using the pen too to create some wild shapes sometimes parts of the layers go outside the parameters of the working area. Is there a way to delete the overflowing parts?

You could use a clipping path and you wouldn't have to delete them, they would just be hidden.

Or you could use the pathfinder tool to subtract the parts you don't want.

You don't really need the working area, and you can choose Hide Art Board and Hide Page Tiling from the view menu. You can also apply a page size clipping Mask to the image or use a pathfinder filter but this may be overkill because most programs can crop the image.
