Illy to pdf file got way bigger?

Did a quick little job in Illustrator CS3 (6MB) and saved it to PDF (13 MB). I'm wondering why it got so much bigger? Did I do something wrong? I guess I never noticed that before.

Maybe your Illustrator has linked art and the linked images do not contribute to the Illustrator file size?

Right you are. Duh....I left a photo I traced under the drawing and it came up in links. Thanks so much.
