Has anyone else tried bringing charts from the new Excel for Mac 2008 into AI? We used to be able to save an Excel chart as PDF, open in Illustrator, then break apart a lot of compound paths (and clipping paths), then get at the chart to alter it as a vector. Now I'm just getting an embedded image that I can't get at. As another attempt, I wanted to try printing to PostScript from Excel but I haven't figured that out yet. Does anyone know of a way to get an Excel 08 chart into AI (CS3)? Thanks.

I've had to bring some Excel charts into Ill and I had surprisingly good results. The way I did it you have to have a Mac and you have to have excel. Open the Excel file and then use command-p to open the print dialog, instead of printing, pop up the PDF button in the lower left hand corner and choose, Save as PDF. Then open the PDF with Ill and you're ready to go. Sometimes you get something weird like a boarder that was one 2 points and is now 10 points, but things like that are easy enough to fix.
