I am a big fan of Scott Kelby's Classic PS Effects and use it regularly with my students. Its real life approach with relatively short focused lessons (with accompanying images) is ideal for my approach with my students. I was wondering if there is anything comparable with a focus on InDesign. I find most texts, with their focus on how to use a given tool and all its intricacies, not ideal for my setting. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

It's a good idea, but are there really any techniques in InDesign that could be considered "Classic?" The program might be a little young for that.

I know what you mean though, you need more of a text book approach, not a manual.

No, I didn't mean "classic" InDesign effects so much, but rather the tutorial/project-oriented approach presented in the book. I'm not really into spending a unit of study on the eyedropper tool. I'd much rather have the kids use the tool in context than learning about it simply because it exists, if you know what I mean.
