Hi,
Does anyone know how to copy a layer mask from one layer to another? I am using CS2 and have tried every right-click, key-click, combo I can think of but cannot seem to find this. I am hoping it is possible because after you spend all of the time to create a mask, then realize you need to import the image again it would save a lot of time not to have to re-create the mask again.

Also, how can you paste in place in Photoshop? The standard cut-paste always offsets the pasted graphic.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here's one way to dupe a layer mask: Command-click (Ctrl-click if PC) on the Layer Mask's thumbnail in the layers palette. That loads the mask as a selection. Next, target the desired layer and click on the Add Layer Mask button at the bottom of the Layers palette.

To paste in place, just don't deselect after you copy. If you have already deselected, go to Select>Reselect and then Paste.

In the layers palette, Option-Drag the mask Icon to a new layer and it will copy.

(If you're on a PC you'll have to work out the keyboard equivalents on your own -- I've had it with Mac to PC explanations!)

thank you! I'll give both suggestions a try.
