problem with loader/progress bars in ie, work fine in firefox and safari

can anybody help with the following problem with the loader progress bars in internet explorer they refuse to work properly, yet firefox and safari display them as they should, pages load but progress bar does not disappear or show any actual progress, but as soon as everything loaded in cache when you go back and click the bars disappear, previous sites I have created they work fine, but this one seems to be a problem, has something changed in internet explorer to cause this issue
