Hello, I 'm new here, and have a question about exporting illustrator cs2 layers to acrobat 7. I have a map in illustrator, built with layers, so that each top-level layer will export to acrobat. I want viewers to be able to hide or show those layers when viewed on the web. When I export to acrobat, the layers are listed in reverse order, although they aren't reversed in the illustration. It's not that big of a deal, except my boss is wondering why the "base" layer is listed at the top--it just doesn't look logical.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi lindaped,

This is very strange! Layers in Acrobat listed in the opposite order that they are listed in the Layers palette in Illustrator. And I could not find a way around it.

Considering how much Illustrator and Acrobat are alike in format, it makes even less sense. It does not happen when Exporting from InDesign to Acrobat. The Layers are listed identically in both IDCS2 and Acrobat 7.

It may not be worth the effort, but you may be able to use InDesign as a workaround (if you have ID).

Import your Illustrator maps, one Layer at a time, each into different Layers in InDesign and do your Acrobat Export from InDesign.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, I thought about importing to ID, so I guess that will be my project for today. I'll let you know if it works!

Hi Lindaped,

This might not be of great help because I use the CS suite but I have no problems with the order of layers when I use these settings:

- Save as : Adobe PDF (pdf)
- in the "General" portion of the Adobe PDF Options dialog : preset is set to "Acrobat 6 layered" and the option "Create Acrobat Layers From Top-Level Layers" is checked.
