I was saving a document in InDesign CS2 and and something went wrong. The program had to close suddenly without properly saving. Everytime I try to open the file now, the document recovery window comes up. When I click on either Yes (to recover) or No (to deelted recovery information), an error screen comes on, telling me that "InDesign.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovenience. Is my file corrupted and beyond recovery???

My dateline is Monday, in 2 days time and it was quite a lot of owrk that was lost!!!! Somebody, please help if you can. I am pretty desperate at this point!

Two things to try:

Refresh the preferences, start indesign and use the key combo to reset preferences, com(or ctrl) plus alt plus shift. You will be asked if you want to delete the preferences, say yes. Then try to reopen file.

If that doesn't work, go to the folder that contains the file you've been working on. There will be a temp file there with an indl (i think indt is template), take that file out of the folder and reopen the file, any changes in the temp file that you moved may be lost. From this point on, subscribe to save often, save frequently, and save all the time if there's a chance you computer may lock up or crash on ocaission.
