Hello,

I've been sent a file in A4 format which contains Intertstate fonts in regular, condensed, black etc. I need to be able to reformat the file to A5 which in itself is not too much hassle. However I don't have Interstate, even though I have a collection of over 1,000 other fonts (e.g. those that came with CorelDraw and InDesign amongst others). I wish to retain the readability of Interstate - does anyone have any ideas about which fonts would be a good substitute for Interstate?

I am aware of the free Blue Highway and Expressway, but they are fairly limited to a couple of fonts.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Regards, Ian.

How about Frutiger? Not quite a match but similar in look and feel.

Hi irobbie,

Several years ago, I found a great resource for finding similar fonts or identifying fonts -- http://www.myfonts.com

You can search using a font name, and then click on find similar. This link contains the results for Interstate -- http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/fontbureau/interstate/morelikethis.html

Some of the fonts it finds will leave you scratching your head. But others are very similar. Frutiger is really good. Good call Repro! You may also want to check out the Avenir family.

Another part of the site that I find extremely useful is its font identification feature. If you have a type sample you can't identify, simple scan it and upload it to MyFonts -- http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont Love the name "What The Font."

Sometimes it's right on the money with an exact match in seconds. Other times, it doesn't help at all. But it's well worth trying. Just make sure you follow the specs for resolution and try to find a sample with letters that don't touch.

Hope this helps!
