I think this helps. Three basic changes have been made.

1. Flesh tones — skin is actually more yellow than pink, it is a common mistake made in color work.
2. Contrast on bkgd.
3. Blurred bkgd.

Also her face could have been washed, I mean remove some of the goo, but there wasn't enough detail on the attached image for that.

And the overall tone of the background is weird, but I didn't mess with that. It seems too Gray for a indoor paint.

Okay just for fun I removed the slight impurities in the blue clothes. I don't know if they are teal or blue, but I made them blue.

The masking is very rough on this so can see some weird spots on the edges, where I quickly maksed.

i had desaturated the background to try something new and to add a little more seperation of the BG, the file was a old 2.25 neg i scanned in on my new epson v500 , plus was trying out a couple of new photoshop techs i just learned, the pic was taken about 2 years ago when i had a medium format camera and trying to learn the camera, so she was a fast suject on the fly kind of thing.

ps thanks for the comments

So that scanner had a 2 1/4 neg attachment? I have a ton of those to scan in. Did you have to buy the attachment separately? I don't see that in the specs when I looked it up.

heres the link to the product page for epson it gives the full specs. but in short it does do medium format negs with the adapter that came with it. fyi fun fact if you scan the neg at the v500 full resolution you get almost a 3gig tiff file. have fun with that, i have benn doing around 2000 dpi aprox 500mb files.
