First of all, I'm having a hard time describing this effect, but it is used subtley in the "Netflix" logo as well as many others.

I'm trying to create the type effect in which the bottom of my text is "arched," but the top remains level.

Does this make sense? I guess I need the bottom of the text to follow a path, but not the top.

I'm sure this is an easy effect to achieve, but I'm lost and facing a deadline.

Any ideas?

Jeff

I used to have a plugin for Illustrator called Envelopes that allowed you to do this effect, as well as several other similar type things. I used it with Illustrator 8, but I don't have it anymore.

Hi Guys,

If I have understood your question right, then this might be useful to you. There is an option in Illustrator CS, under Effects/Warp. Hope the image explains you clearly.

I appreciate the responses, but I'm not explaining the effect well enough. Take alook at the attachment. See how the bottom of the Netflix logo is arched but the top is unaffected?

The top example is what you get with the warp filters--not what I'm going for. It's a very commonly used effect--could it be this elusive?

Hi,

It is evident that my earlier example had flat top and a bulged bottom, which was indeed your requirement. Check this out, this also done using warp.

Srik, Thank you much! Just move the slider the other direction. Brilliant!
I knew it would be simple.

Thanks again!

It kind of works, actually. The warping effect skews some of the letters.

You could try something like this.

It's really not a lot of work, even it you take the time to round out the bottom lines.
