Tell you what, I'm really enjoying this book:

Professional Design Techniques with Adobe Creative Suite 3 (http://tinyurl.com/5kgcon) by Scott Citron.

It incorporates Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop all in the same tutorials. They are easy to follow and look like they could actually be of use in the real world. There is lots of advice on the fundamentals of design and, especially, typography. It treats the reader as someone with some common sense and therefore doesn't need to describe every single click.

There is a slight emphasis on InDesign but because the projects generally start in Ai it suits me perfectly because I don't know the program and I need a good reasons to go and explore it. Highly, highly recommended.

Hello Joe,

I too have this book and it is good - though I have not delved in as deeply as you have.

You might also like "Creative Suite 3 Integration" by Keith Martin (Focal Press). This covers PS, Illu, InD, Dw, Fl and Acrobat plus the accessories like Bridge etc. A bit more meaty than Scott's book and so not as easy to get into until you are more confident with all the apps. But possibly a good follow on read for you.
Cheers,

Gary.

Hi Joe:

Thanks for the kind words regarding my book. I worked hard trying to produce something helpful to designers, so I'm happy to hear you found it of use. Many thanks for your support.
