I am new to the whole Adobe CS3 world and am slowly trying to learn something from every component. Right now, I am trying to learn Flash and that's what has me here in the forum. I want to develop an "application" and I am not sure what components to use to accomplish my objective.

My goal is to create an "application" that I can use to display floor plans and elevations of house plans used by a home builder. My concept is one that consists of the use of buttons or switches that would toggle between the different elevation styles while concurrently showing the floor plan for the selected elevation. I also want to include a layer that can be toggled on/off showing the electrical plan and fixture locations. Another component I want to include is buttons or check boxes that, when selected, would overlay certain options the homeowner can select during the buying process. All of these included components would need the ability to be mirrored with the selection of another button or checkbox, i.e. in the case a homeowner selects a house with the garage on the opposite side. As an added bonus, I would like to add the ability for the user, using a tablet PC, to add hand-drawn sketches or notes to the screen and then be able to print the results.

I have worked many hours trying to develop this in Flash with ActionScript 3.0 and have a "rough" version with just the elevation and floor plans. I have yet to try and incorporate the electrical plans, options, pencil app, and printing. I just want to make sure I am using the right tools for the job and not spending valuable time doing it this way when their may be a simpler one. I am not looking for someone to do the work for me, just some advice and guidance and perhaps direction to a tutorial or two that may help me learn the proper techniques and methods. Again, I must reiterate that I am a newbie and tend to try and learn as I go, hands-on rather than by reading instruction.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's very interesting. I have been making masks over digital pics of houses to help with the exterior selections. I have been working in PS for that creating layers of window trim, doors, first color siding and secondary color siding. But mine is not as interactive as what you've described. Is that why you are using Flash? Is it done over the web or in person with the client? Seems for accurate layout of electrical and such, a CAD program would be needed.

By 'application' I think of a software program such as Flash or Photoshop. Is that what you are developing? Or just using an a Application to make a job to do?
