Working on two separate layers

Hi guys

Just a quicky - there's probably a simple way of doing this but it's driving me nuts

is there a way i can work on 2 separate layers i.e. if i want to clone 'from' layer one and 'onto' layer two..........without merging them?

i know this is probably simple for you guys, but i'm struggling...............so no laughing :o ;)

mops, it's right there next to the "aligned/unaligned" check box.

Check "sample all layers."

I think it's worded slightly different in older versions.
