Hello I'm trying to get this kind of 3D text effect that's going inward. I have tried using the 3d effect tool but have no idea. Anyone know how to do this?? Thanks very much!

Is this the kinda 3D your going for, my eyes are bad I can't really see your example. I did it kinda quickly so don't bash it's non-cool factor:)

Yes it's something like that but coming out from an anchor point. Much like that superman 3d text effect. Also would you guys know how to stroke the 3d effect and group them so I can color them in? I've tried using 3d effect->expand->merge and then color in. Is this the correct way?

Yeahhh...that's the way it goes. Expand it and add a stroke where you need it. In CS2 you can use the LivePaint tool to add colors. Helps a lot.

If you are trying to achieve the same color/stroke effect in your example, fill your text with white, then add a stroke with the color you want. The 3d Effect will be what you show.
