1) What window size/pixel ratio/monitor size are most of you designing for these days? My GL5 Quickstart book has some recommendations, but that was, what 2001? Time and technology have changed the accessibility standard; while I know that you can't design one page for all scenarios, I'd hate to make more work for people viewing on 12" Powerbooks, and I'd hate to underwhelm someone on a 17".

2) What's the general consensus on Flash? The site idea I currently have in progress is Flash, but it's not intensive at all...nothing moving, just the elements fading in (with a tad bit of horizontal movement), on each page load; load times test very well on dial-up.
I ask because I'm getting a bruised forehead with the learning curve on GoLive, and if I can't get the hurdles cleared, then I'll have to stay with Flash.

thanks

I design for 800x600 because I design government web sites, but I think that most designs are 1024x768.

As for Flash, it really depends on your audience. If you decide to use it, make sure that there is a link so that the user can download a copy of FlashPlayer. You may even want to have two sites - one for Flash and one in XHTML. Personally, I think that Flash has come along way and as long as you know your target audience, I think that you are fine using Flash.

Funny...the Flash stuff I have in-progress is 800x600. I started the work on it a long time ago, project got put off; I remember just coin-tossing sizes and deciding 'yeah, that looks good.'

After I posted the first time, I went and opened up GoLive to try and tackle it again, and ran into a major stumbling block that completely escaped me: None of the fonts I want to use are accessible in OS9 (I have to use Classic for my version of GoLive). So, I guess I'm hosed on using GoLive. And that, in itself, bothers me because I won't be able to create an HTML version for non-Flashers.

When considering size I always consider who i'm designing for. Are the people the site is targeted for an older generation (meaning they may have their scenes set to 800 x 600 ) while I am younger and am equiped with the flash player I view at 1024. But most importantly, make the design excellent.

I created a website in photoshop.... How can I import it into Go Live and continue working from there? Is that possible or do I have to completely redesign from the beginning?
