Help!
I made a Christmas wreath for business xmas card then topped it with some red ornaments.

The ornaments were made with a white to red radial gradient and an inner glow effect (normal blend) using a darker red shade.

Here's the problem...
When I print it there's a light green square (one of the colors in the wreath) around each red ornament.

If I remove the inner glow effect the green square disappears but the balls don't look as good.

I tried different things with isolate blending, knockout group, opacity mask but the green square remained.

Anybody run into anything similar before?

I'd LOVE to hear some other ideas.

Thanks

Hi Jennifer,

What are you printing to? Do you have a postscript RIP?

Jennifer,

Are you working completely in AI?

I had a similar issue show up on some business cards. The logo created in AI contained a feature applied from the "effect" menu. When the logo was saved as an EPS file and placed into InDesign for layout or rasterized in Photoshop, an odd square appeared around the "effect" area. The work-around that I used was to save the logo art as a native AI file with the "Create PDF Compatible File" option selected. Both ID and PS can work with native AI files. As an AI files the logo appeared and printed just fine.

Thanks for the reply. I'm printing to a Dell 3100 cn color laser. Since you brought this up I think I'll try a nearby inkjet to see what happens.

I'm working solely in Illustrator CS2.
