Question on Creating a Metal, Diamond Plated Background

Does anyone know either a link to a tutorial, or to a download that will help me create a Metal Diamond plated background for an advertisement I have to create? I am more experienced in Photoshop than Illustrator, though I've been learning a lot lately, and I need to create this sign in Illustrator. I haven't been able to a resource to help me out yet. If anyone could help, I'd really appreciate it! Thanks~:cool:

If I may also make a couple suggestions. This lends itself well to a pattern. After creating a diamond as described, rotate and copy it as shown attached. Then make that a pattern Select both diamonds and drag to the swatches Palette). You can then fill any object with that pattern and control the scale of the pattern through the scale tool.

Also, you may want to consider the use of the appearance palette to create the diamonds. Just two fills with a gradient, the one on top with a transformation effect of about 80%, rotated 180°. Then a drop shadow.
