hi... below is a junction done with 2 rectangles with gradient... the problem is i want the intersection part to merge like is done with one single shape.. meaning i shouldn't see the white vertical line pointed by the arrow, both gradient should merge nicely...
how do i accomplish that..? i tried using the functions in the pathfinder palette but it doesn't work

Hi, select you top gradient and set the Color Mode in the transparency palette to either Multiply or Darken depending of the intersection effect you want.
If their is some elements under the two gradients, you will need to group the two and check the Isolate Blending Option in the transparency palette to constrain the effect of the Multiply or Darken to not affect object under the two.

I played around with what you said because I wanted to see the effect for myself and I have to say that is cool. I have been using illustrator for a while now, about two years and I still learn something new almost daily.
