I have been working on a portrait project for a cutomer who would like to have it printed out on either a very nice, glossy finish photo paper, or possibly even a canvas. I do not want to print this out on my own, and I can not if a speacial printing such as the canvas would be needed. Does anyone have any recommendations of who I can utilize for either one or both of these options? Printing a regular copy is easy enough, but I would like to know what good resources exist out there for this type of work, as I may have more speacilized needs arrising in the furture. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Phats, I do alot of photography and I use MPIX as my printers. They do some great work and will do a picture on MAt, metalic, or canvas. The prices are very reasonable

Thanks for the link. I will make sure to check it out more in depth today. I also found another site which does canvas only. That site is Canvas on Demand (http://www.mpix.com/productsinfo.aspx?prod=12). Have you ever had a canvas done? If so, how did it work out? I also saw the metallic paper paper, these look interesting too. Ever have anything printed out on these also? I wonder how the metallic paper would work out for a wedding portrait.

I've used http://www.winkflash.com/ for canvas and posters. The quality is good. The price is hard to beat.

Canvas on Demand does a great job but you pay a very high premium. The one I gave you also does Canvas and the work is great at a fraction of the cost.

I would check to see if there are any local photo places that offer this in house. Look for a semi-pro one as they tend to offer a lot of services and resonable prices and I hate using online services.

While a 50 mile dirve there is a great digital imaging/photo lab I like to use and they do exactly what you are looking for in-house and they are nothing short of phenomenal at it. They also output on watercolor textured paper and the results are amazing and worth the 100 mile round trip (They let me FTP the files so I only make one trip)

Finding something local has it's advantages too since you can look at the quality before you order. Most places of this caliber are all to happy to show samples.

Also, you mentioned high quality photo paper. Same type of photo labs can output onto real photo paper. The best quailty I have seen out of Noritsu machines, worst from Fuji. Agfa can make a good image as well but do not look as natural as Noritsu. I get dozens of enlargements like this every year and love the quailty.

One good thing about using a local place is they know me, and I know them so I get great consistent quality. I also get updated color working spaces from them so I can edit at home and know what the output will be.

I have friends I do business with who have a large format Cannon inkjet. They print posters and canvas, mostly canvas. I do digital paintings of people and use them for printing. They do digital paintings of pets. You can go through me or contact them directly. They are very meticulous when it comes to color and perfectionists with the prints themselves.

As a NewBee to this forum can I ask why Phats57 seems to project a larger and different font than other posts. Is there a specific reason for this?

If you look up on the menu bar you will see quick links. Go there and then select Edit Options. If you go all the way down to Misc options there is a drop down for what message interface you perfer. The Enhanced version Lets you do all kins of stuff... Also it is html based so you can always write code :)

I wanted to add that, while there are also many other alternatives to Canvas on Demand as has been thoroughly pointed out here, if you do decide to go with them and are a member of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP, http://www.photoshopuser.com/), then you receive a discount - $10 off if I recall.

You can also buy canvas made specifically for inkjet printers if you just want to try out the look. I've done this with excellent results...mind you the prints will not be as durable as professionally done.
