Making outline on a picture

I have a problem making an outline on pictures.
I have a plotter and a cutter, and i want to make a picture on a T-Shirt.
Then i want the cutter to cut around the picture.
When i want to cut text its easy. But i cant figure out how to do this with a picture.

Do you have 2 units or 1 unit that does both? If you have separate units, then it may be very hard to load the media to register correctly.

If you have 1 unit like a Roland ColorCAM, I think you want to make a "contour" around the outside of the entire picture. I do this buy first creating a new layer (and make it the top most layer) and naming it CONTOUR. Then I duplicate all the art from all other layers on the CONTOUR layer, select all, and use the JOIN pathfinder button (with the option key held on mac) to create a single, sometimes compound path that is where the machine cuts.

On another subject... have you tried dipping your cheddar cheese goldfish in a chocolaty hazelnut spread?
