Hi All,

Exciting news!

It's official! I'm writing for Layers magazine. My first tutorial is listed right there on the home page, under Learning Center -- "Making Wraps Sing." It's a run through of some of basic features of Wrapping text in InDesign for artists switching from Quark.

There's lots more coming, including Tutorials and Tips of the Day for both InDesign CS2 and Illustrator CS2.

So how did I get this fun gig? The Editors at Layers really DO read this forum and emailed me.

Have a great weekend!

Ace

Hi All,

Thanks for the well wishes!

I think that there are quite a few people on this forum who should be writing for Layers or writing books. This forum, more than any other, oozes with knowledge. I learn new stuff almost every time I go though the posts.

I've always said that I learn the most about these applications from my students. Sometimes their questions make me look at a feature in a whole new way. I make a point about this in my next tutorial about Spirals in Illustrator.

Thanks again!

Ace

PS: Paul, long time no talk! You were missed on this forum. Glad you're back!

Thanks Guy!

As a freelancer, this whole training thing started as just a little sideline, which it was for the first few years.

Now, all of a sudden, I'm writing for Layers, writing and instructing for DVD training, and being asked to speak at seminars. Really very strange! But fun!

Congrats, Ace.

I haven't read any issues of Layers Magazine, and stopped reading MacDesign -- was that the name of the previous mag? I can't even remember anymore -- long before they switched over.

When I first started reading it I was enjoying it, but I dropped my subscription after an overall decline in the writing, articles, and the mag in general.

Maybe you'll perk things up.

I might even have to try reading an issue again. Do they give free trial issues? Well I guess I can look that up...

Anyway, congrats -- now give us readaholics something interesting to read!

Hey Repro,

Thanks!

I'm writing content for online Tutorials and Tips of the Day, not the actual printed magazine. I wish!

You have a major talent for explaining the features of various applications. So I think you should be writing for Layers, if not some other publication. I always learn stuff from your posts.

Well hey, thanks ace. I'm more into the online rendition of Layers anyway, and I'll check out your column.

Hi staciecd and Frode,

Thanks!

I have an Illustrator Tutorial coming up that I'm very excited about. It's an in-depth look at the Spiral tool and the mysterious terms used in its dialog box. Fun stuff! I learned a lot putting it together.

I like tutorials that look at just one feature or tool and totally dissect it (as much as possible using about 1200 or so words).
