Work Area size?

When I open to create a new file in AI CS2, the entire surface of my monitor is covered with the work area. Is there a way to make this area smaller beside clicking and dragging one corner? I tried saving the workspace, but when I open the same thing happens?

Go to Window>Navigator and make sure it is checked then find your navigator palette and you can zoom in and out of you work space.

If memory serves me, I think you can adjust this in Illustrator's startup file (Mentioned in Dave Cross' weekly tutorial). Just adjust the size in this file and I think it maintains the size. I think. ;-).
