Inside Stroke pre CS2

I am working on a logo that will be printed on a mug. I need a minimum of a 1pt stroke for the screen printing. The problem is I need the stroke on the inside of the transparent object. With the stroke centered it dosent leave enough space between the diffrent parts of the logo. I know you can align the stroke in CS2 but I have CS. How do I go about doing this?

1. Appearance Palette menu > Add New Stroke
2. Select this new stroke in the Appearance Palette
3. Effect > Path > Offset Path...

I think I got that to work and i am definatly going to get the cs2 upgrade...
