Hello-
Can anyone give me some pointers on creating something that looks like a double helix (DNA)? Thanks in advance.

The easiest way would be to use the Double Helix Symbol provided in the symbols library under Mad Science, You can expand the symbol extract the fancy background and then use the elements you want.
Another way is to take a line
go to Effect>distort and Transform>zig Zag
Apply to the line using the approriate numbers
I used .14
6
Make sure the smooth box is checked
After you complete this go to object expand apperance
Then go to object>path>outline stroke
Then just use your Direct select tool to adjust anchor point and Bezier curves to get the look you want.
I hope that gets you going on the right track.
You could also use your Pen tool to create it also....
If you go back to the Forum home page here go to search and search the word Ribbon go to the thread and look at Nutella answer, Even though it is not a double helix, following this will give you a great understanding and ability to create a Double helix yourself. The basics are the same.
