Inspiration

As designers, digital artists and illustrators where do you turn for inspiration? Music, nature other artists? Are there any artists or particular styles of art that influence your work?
Personally I like line art and pointillism. My influences are Aubrey Beardsley and Alphonse Mucha. When it comes to inspiration I find it in comic art, scifi/fantasy movies, other digital artists and electronica (music).

I either sleep or take a walk. I found that the nap helped me with my rut yesterday.

I have found that if you think too much about what you want to do it blurs the outcome. In starting any form of art, take time away from what you are doing often(!), especially if its seems to gather in a rut. Just do what ever clears your head and then come back to it. Fresh perspectives seem to grow that way.:)

I guess people in this field must always have their eyes wide open to things around them. I knew a class copywriter who was such an observant. Anything which he came across, would set him to thinking and come out with something very innovative.
