View Full Version : illustrator cs2 document bounds / grid don't line up

In Illustrator cs2, I am tried to design a web site layout.

I have set the grid to pixels, every 50px with 4 subdivisions. I have also aligned to grid. When I start a new document of any resolution, i.e. 600x800 px, the black document bounds that appear are always slightly off the grid line, so it is difficult to properly know how the document will export, and also difficult to draw objects that are aligned to the edge of the page / to the grid.

I have attached a .gif to demonstrate this. How can I get the bounds and the grid to properly align?

Thanks,

Mark

...layers mag is pretty good (I occasionally get a freebie copy in the post) but there is too much advertising in it. Maybe I just get the promotional copies with loads of adverts inside.

I tried to recreate your issue and couldn't - the grids lined up perfectly with the corner of the page.

Make sure no documents are open, then double-check your grid setup in Prefs. Maybe you changed it while a document was open so it wasn't global to new docs. Just a thought.

Hi sparktacus.h,

The problem seems to have come about as result of changing the Grid to 50 Pixels. It does not happen at 72 Pixels.

But fixing it is easy. Simply double-click on the white square in the upper left hand corner of your document window – where your horizontal and vertical rulers come together. This will reset the Grid to the upper left hand corner of the Page.

Hope this helps!

PS: you can also click and drag from this Ruler Origin (white square) to reset the Ruler and Grids to anyplace in the document.
